When, Where and Who?

All about Lancing Ukulele Village Club

L.U.V. Club will usually meet on the third Sunday of the month. We start playing at 12 noon and finish at 2pm.

Our regular venue is the lovely Lions Community Hall which belongs to Lancing & Sompting Lions. It's a charming purpose-built centre at Roberts Road, Lancing, West Sussex. The building has a stage but we will be seated for the jam (there are tables and chairs).  There is a small kitchen and refreshments will be served half way through the jam (or you are welcome to bring your own). There are toilets and the building has disabled access. Please see this map for directions.

We welcome everyone from age 16-116. Our uke jams accommodate absolute beginners as well as people who've been playing for years. We've expert players, and a few regulars who like to come along just to sing and cheer us on. We're a friendly bunch and ability (or lack of) is no barrier to enjoying the jam!

L.U.V. Club is run by the women behind Worthing's Wukulele jam.

Hello!Lancing local resident Harriet Booth has run Wukulele (with aplomb) for the past 7 years. She performs with ukulele band The Flying Aspidistras and is half of The Silver Dream Machine. Harriet has compiled 13 (count 'em!) very popular Wukulele songbooks.

Daniela Gargiulo formed Brighton Ukulele Sundays - the first ukulele jam in Sussex - in 2007, putting together songbooks for the group and 9 early Wukulele editions. Upon moving to Worthing she set up Wukulele jam and organised Wukulele Festival (the first South Coast International Ukulele Festival) in 2010. Daniela is the other half of The Silver Dream Machine.

Brighton Ukulele Sundays and Wukulele Jam sowed the seeds for a thriving community of uke players throughout Sussex with clubs forming in Littlehampton, Billingshurst and Shoreham, as well as more uke jams in Brighton and Hove. (See our Friends page for details).

With both women now resident in Lancing the time is right to concentrate resources closer to home and spread the ukulele joy right here in Lancing Village. So we bid a fond farewell to Wukulele and say hello to L.U.V. Club!
